Whitewater! The very word is thrilling. And countless thousands, restless for exhilaration, have pursued its challenge. If you long to be part of this very special experience, or simply wish to hone your paddling skills, the Madawaska Kanu Centre has an exciting fun-filled package for you – right here in downtown Ottawa!
MKC, established in 1972 on the Madawaska River, will be offering whitewater instruction at the “Pump-house.”
The “Pump-house” also know as Tailrace, is a tributary of the Ottawa River, at LeBreton Flats. It was discovered by local paddling enthusiasts, and then has quickly become a whitewater destination. Over the past 2 decades, the Ottawa River Runners Club has improved the site. Presently ORR has been working closely with the NCC and the City of Ottawa to create a world class whitewater paddling training and competition facility in conjunction with the LeBreton Flat development.
